Riverhead Ambulance Responds to Structure Fire

On Tuesday February 12th, a 911 call was received reporting a house fire. Riverhead Ambulance was dispatched to stand by at the scene.

Upon arrival firefighters were met with heavy black smoke coming from the residence and an active fire within.

The occupants of the home were able to self evacuate prior to the arrival of emergency responders. The occupants were evaluated and treated on scene and later transported by Riverhead Ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center.

One firefighter was treated and released at the scene.

Despite adverse weather and road conditions, the fire was brought under control in approximately 90 minutes.

Wading River Fire Department provided and extra ambulance to stand by at the scene in the event of any other injuries.

Flanders Northampton Volunteer Ambulance provided additional coverage for the town of Riverhead for the duration of the situation.

Mattituck Fire Department also assisted with covering our district while our crews were busy.
