In Every Call, She’s With Us: A Prayer for Heidi Behr

A Prayer for Heidi
In Memory of EMT Heidi Behr

She answered the call not just with sirens and speed,
But with heart, with hope, and a quiet strength that led.
A mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend—
A light in the dark, a soul that would bend
Not away from danger, but toward the need.
She gave everything. That’s who she was.

She dreamed of flight, of soaring skies,
Of being the hands that heal from above.
A life-saver not just in title,
But in every breath, every sacrifice, every shift.
She wore compassion like armor,
And courage like wings.

We remember her not just for how she left us,
But for how deeply she lived:
In the laughter of her son,
In the love of her family,
In the legacy of lives she touched.

Tonight, we bow our heads,
Not in sorrow alone—but in gratitude.
For the honor of knowing her,
For the bravery she gave us,
For the reminder that heroes walk among us
—sometimes in uniform, always in grace.

Rest easy, Heidi. We carry you with us,
In every siren, every call, every save.
You were one of us.
You always will be.
