Riverhead, NY – At approximately 3:12 PM today, Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance was dispatched to a significant motor vehicle accident located at the intersection of Court Street and Griffing Avenue. Upon arrival, two Riverhead ambulances and a Northwell Paramedic unit were on scene to manage the situation.
It was quickly ascertained that there were six patients involved in the incident. The Northwell paramedic efficiently triaged the patients, identifying one as 'yellow' and five as 'green' under emergency medical categorization. This prompt assessment was crucial in addressing the urgency of care needed for each individual.
We are immensely grateful for the rapid response and assistance from our surrounding departments. Their collaborative effort was instrumental in ensuring the safety and well-being of all involved. The combined expertise and dedication of these teams played a vital role in the efficient handling of this emergency.
Ultimately, five patients were transferred to Peconic Bay Medical Center for further evaluation and care and one patient refused medical transportation. We extend our deepest appreciation to the following departments for their invaluable support:
