| For decades, the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps building has been more than just a place to respond to emergency calls. It’s been a second home, a gathering place, and a building filled with memories that will last a lifetime.
As we prepare to say goodbye to our longtime headquarters and welcome a brand-new building, there’s a mix of excitement, nostalgia, and a little sadness.
We asked a few of our members what this move means to them. ❤️
🚑 Angie: “I’m excited for the new building!”
🚑 Jamie: “I’m excited for the new building too!”
🚑 TJ: “I’ve been here for about two and a half years, and I’m excited for the new building… and that promised gym!” 💪😂
🚑 Maddie: “I’m excited for the new building too!”
🚑 Joe: “I’ve been here for over 20 years. I practically grew up in this building. From being fresh out of high school to now being 40 years old, having two kids, and spending almost every day here, this building has been a huge part of my life. It’s honestly sad knowing we’re leaving behind a place that holds so many memories. But I’m also incredibly excited to see the future of Riverhead Ambulance and everything this new building will bring.”
❤️ The hardest part about leaving isn’t saying goodbye to the walls. It’s saying goodbye to the memories made within them.
Think about how many friendships started here. How many late-night conversations took place between calls. How many meals were shared, how many laughs echoed through the halls, and how many members walked through these doors as strangers and became family.
This building has seen generations of volunteers come and go. It has been the starting point for countless emergency calls, where our members answered the call to help someone on what may have been the worst day of their life.
And now, it’s time for the next chapter.

While our address may change, our mission, our dedication, and the family we’ve built will remain exactly the same.
To all the past and present members who have called this building home: thank you for being part of its history.
